Comb! Not quite three weeks after hiving the swarm, comb is beginning to show in the ball of bees.

Each day at least once I peek inside the hive. For the first two weeks, the ball of bees seemed to grow slowly. I knew they were building comb, but until last week I couldn’t see it. Finally one day comb showed at the edge of the ball of bees. The bees have seemed happy and healthy, but seeing the comb brought a new thrill of certainty that this wild swarm is now at home in my yard.
